The Project
Bosworth Academy built in 1969 located in Leicester is part of Life Multi-Academy Trust
The old floor in the 533 sq m sports hall was a textile surface with inlaid lines we believe this floor had been in place since the school was built
The PE staff were very keen to replace the floor both performance and cost were key requirements.
The new surface needed to be multi-purpose and durable to suit the school’s extensive sports curriculum it also needed to be used for exams and school functions.
We were pleased to negotiate a deal with the school to install a new Conica Area Elastic high-performance seamless polyurethane sports floor.
Looking after the new floor was high on the schools agenda our order included the installation of 4 pairs of socketed badminton posts ( old style heavy weight badminton posts being dragged over the surface is not good for any floor )
We also supplied our floor protection system complete with storage and trollies to cover the whole floor during exams and functions
The Installation
When our team uplifted the floor, we revealed a very sound flat dry sub floor
The now redundant tennis post fixings we removed and infilled
The surface was prepared by diamond grinding before priming and 3mm of latex screed
We then installed a Conica 7+2 Point Elastic HG Eco EN14904 compliant sports floor finished in a RAL 6021 Green colour.

4 pairs of socketed badminton posts
New heavy-duty door thresholds were installed to all doorways and store rooms

From the very first enquiry to obtain a quote right up to the end of the installation, Jed and the team and Recreational Coatings were a pleasure to deal with. Unlike other companies we contacted, Jed was quick to respond and I felt he wasn’t just in to get the job – he and the team were there to provide us with the best service possible.
After installation there was an issue with a leak from the Sports Hall roof which damaged the flooring and this was sorted out quickly by the team – again a great and swift service.
I would 100% recommend working with them and hopefully, if we can secure more funding, will have them back with us in the near future.
