Fairlawns is an independent family run business which includes a hotel, C&B facilities, a spa and gym. John Pette, one of the hotel owners, approached us to specify a new gym flooring system that would bring their facility up to date and complement their new Technogym equipment. The timescale required was 1 week for completion.
The whole gym was due to be refurbished so John seized the opportunity to completely revamp the dated equipment, décor and flooring (which was predominantly carpet tile). John wanted our guidance to come up with a flooring specification that would offer resilience, easy maintenance and project a look and feel of a more modern facility. We also had to make sure the floor was prepared to a high standard.
There were no issues such as damp, acoustic concerns or subfloor damage so we set about putting a specification together.
After consulting with John regarding the latest gym flooring systems, he chose a range of products from Gerflor’s extensive flooring range; Creation 70 vinyl planks for the main gym area, Powershock 300 for the lifting areas and Taraflex Comfort for the stretch area. The total project was approx. 200m2 and the three Gerflor products offered John what he needed; a low maintenance and resilient Creation 70 vinyl plank, a high impact Powershock 300 rubber tile and soft & comfortable Taraflex Comfort cushioned vinyl.
The flooring was completed on time and on budget. John had a very tight programme and the whole project went smoothly under John’s watchful eye. Now that the gym is finished, it really does represent an up-to-date gym that is appealing and user-friendly.
We were very happy with the quality of advice and support given by Ross in the build-up to our project. He spent time ensuring the right materials were used and were always on hand to reply to questions promptly.
The fitters worked with diligence and timeliness enabling the project to run to time and within the quality standards that were expected.
Collectively the team have helped us transform the space we had into a modern facility, using materials that will stand the test of time.
